About Course

Background & Rationale As the global order undergoes significant transformation, Africa finds itself at a critical juncture. The shift from a unipolar to a multipolar world, the growing influence of blocs such as BRICS+, persistent tensions between global powers, and evolving trade and security dynamics all carry profound implications for Africa’s sovereignty, stability, and development. Within this context, women leaders must be recognised as central actors in shaping Africa’s strategic responses. Their perspectives and leadership approaches bring inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation—qualities essential for peacebuilding, governance reform, and economic transformation. The Women in Geopolitics Debate Programme is a high-level Think-Tank platform that convenes both male and female leaders to critically examine Africa’s evolving role in the global geopolitical landscape. By applying a Pan-African, gender-responsive lens, the programme aims to develop actionable strategies and recommendations that amplify Africa’s voice on the global stage while reinforcing resilience across the continent. Objectives The programme seeks to:

  1. Address urgent geopolitical issues through a Pan-African, gender-responsive lens and generate actionable resolutions for policy makers and public awareness.
  2. Analyse the current global geopolitical landscape and its implications for Africa’s development and positioning.
  3. Empower female leaders with strategies to navigate international dynamics and protect their nations’ interests.
  4. Explore the role of women leaders as catalysts for peace, economic stability, and governance reform.
  5. Foster collaboration among African leaders, with women at the forefront, to strengthen sustainable policy and decision-making processes.
